OUR PHILOSOPHY

Yogam Pottery began as a desire to create and celebrate passion and individuality.
Our philosophy is to mould a life according to one's own terms, in the pursuit of beauty, tranquillity, and individuality.
We believe that the striving is a reward in itself and we trust that the universe will be beautiful and bountiful when one follows a passion.

ABOUT US

Yogam means the act of doing without expecting. A potter requires a wealth of knowledge, patience, and painstaking skills, but also the ability to cope with failure. This is why it becomes even more important to enjoy the process of working with clay without expecting or stressing about the results.

Balakrishna grew in Andhra Pradesh. He graduated in business management from Bangalore and later obtained an MBA from ESC Dijon (France). After living and working in Germany for more than a decade, he decided to transform his passion for yoga and clay into his profession. He is a certified Hatha and Ashtanga Yoga instructor (certified from Ministry of Ayush, India, Shiva yoga peeth and Kaivalyadham yoga Institute).

His pottery career started at Banana Pottery (Goa, India) under the mentor ship of Thomas Louis (visiting professor and alumni of NID, Ahmadabad). what began as a curiosity for clay later turned into an intense passion and this led to the birth of Yogampottery.

“I was merely curious about clay when I started, but stayed on to become a potter because I fell in love with the versatility of clay. The pursuit of beauty is an important focus in everything I do. I like design challenges and celebrating the unique. So most of my pieces are usually unique individual pieces. Being a yoga instructor, I find pottery and creation to be particularly meditative and relaxing. I like to think that my pieces imbibe this peace and calm, and transmute tranquility to all those who buy and use my ceramic products.” - Balakrishna
